Just heard via Mike Pinckard that the 2012 event is planned for the first weekend of June, meaning I think that the drives will be happening the week prior.  Plan on vacation time for the week after Memorial Day weekend I guess! (Prior message directed at those who are still working for a living!   Cheesy)

Flash news!  This morning, 2/29, Branson suffered a tornado that caused extensive damage.  News so far says 1 dead and 13 injured.  The pictures posted so far online only show me damage to the Walmart where we usually stock up on supplies at, and there is no news on the condition of the Ramada host hotel.  More news as I get it.

Not sure about the pictures being 7 years ago. From a post today "According to the Springfield News-Leader, the tornado touched down northwest of Branson near Table Rock Lake before heading to the business district. Severe damange has been reported to landmarks such as the Variety Theatre; the Best Western Hotel, which was completely destroyed; and Silver Dollar City.

Cars throughout the Branson business district were flipped over, and some sources are reporting that an apartment building has collapsed and the roof of a Wal-Mart was blown off. As of a news conference this morning, a reported 7,000 people are out of power."

        Another report
The BEST WESTERN Center Pointe Inn located on Highway 76 received moderate damage to one building and light damage to two other buildings. “Our staff did an excellent job of alerting guests about the situation and this helped to keep them safe. No one was hurt. We were able to move all of our guests to our other hotels after the storm passed,” said Chris Myer, Vice President of Marketing for Myer Hotels.

The cleanup process and assessment have already begun. Contractors and clean up crews were already on hand first thing Friday morning at the BEST WESTERN Center Pointe Inn. Myer Hotels has taken a proactive approach to crisis situations with pre-planning for these types of situation. “You hope you don’t have to use these plans but it is great to have plans in place something like this happens,” said Myer.

The hotel will likely do a phased reopening beginning as soon as it possibly can. “Hopefully in the next couple of days we will have a better understanding of when that will be. In the meantime, we will do our best to accommodate guests at our other hotels in Branson which include the Comfort Inns, Comfort Inn & Suites, and the Holiday Inn Express on Green Mountain Drive.”

“It’s important for visitors to know that they can still come to Branson and have a great vacation. Many of Branson’s most popular attractions were untouched and plan to open up. The shows will go on,” said Myer.

The BEST WESTERN Center Pointe Inn has long been a favorite of Branson visitors due to its outstanding location right in the heart of Branson’s entertainment. The hotel will reopen and be better then ever. You can visit Myer Hotels at www.myerhotels.com.

The joke about 7 years ago and the light was because the date on the camera hadn't been set, so the time stamp on the photo is 1/1/2005 12:12am

Sucks to hear about all of that destruction but they are right on "the show will go on".  The worst thing for Branson right now would be people not traveling their and big events like Z Fest getting cancelled as the locals are really going to need that tourist money now.

Latest pics from Mike Pinckard via FB show that the registration building in the back is demolished.  Hotel itself seems intact.  All the trees right outside our rooms last year (around car wash area) are flattened and down.  Hope the show can still go on.  I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Mike Brunner is registered as well. Open for arriving Thursday either early or late.
Any word on wives attending this year? Julie wants to know if Sue, Kay, Nancy or others will be in attendance this year.
