. That through it's 40 years it has always given more expensive cars a run for their money.
What you most like about the Z Club of TexasBack in 1999 in Michigan when I got my first one, everywhere I looked (forums, Sport Z Magazine, Fresh Alloy, etc) I kept seeing reference to Mad Mike Taylor and the Z Club of Texas. So when I moved here and bought a Z, I knew I right where to go.

The first time I ever saw a Z was in 1995 when I was 12 and my uncle picked me up in his new (to him) 84 300ZX. We drove from Farmington Hills to Ann Arbor to buy my first computer, about a 70 mile round trip. At the end of the ride, I looked over at him and said "When I turn 16 I'm buying this car from you". He just laughed and said "In 4 years this car isn't going to be around anymore" (Michigan winters hadn't been kind).
Four years later, I'd forgotten about the car completely and was trying to figure out what truck I wanted for my first car (hah) when my uncle shows up at my house, hands me the keys and says "It's yours, but I don't know how long it will last".
By that time we estimated it had about 300,000 miles on it (odo stopped in the late 1980s in the 80,000 range) and had seen 15 Michigan winters.
It lasted me about 3 months until I took it to a mechanic to fix a rear brake light wiring issue, the windshield wiper motor and a few other minor items. He called me back right away and told me he didn't feel comfortable doing any work on my car with the amount of rust. That my floorboards were almost completely gone, my front shock towers were about to crumble and release the springs, rear ball joints were gone, etc.
Took me 10 years to get out of Michigan and somewhere where I could own and enjoy a Z again for more then a few months out of the year.
Now I have my 50th Anniversary 1984 300ZX Turbo.
